Squeeze Support
The quickest way to reach me is email: contact@barnhillsoftware.com. Tell me what you were doing and which iPhone or iPad you have. I read every message.
Converting videos
How do I convert a video?
In Videos, tap + and choose Photo Library or Files, then pick one or more videos. Tap Convert to start, or turn on Settings › Convert Automatically to start as soon as they're added.
Where do my converted videos go?
They're in the Videos list and in the Files app, in On My iPhone › Squeeze (On My iPad on an iPad). Tap a video to save it to Photos, share it or save it to Files. Turn on Settings › Save to Photos When Done to save each one automatically.
How do I make a video fit a size limit?
In Settings, set Compress by to File Size and pick a target, such as 25 MB for email or 16 MB for WhatsApp. Squeeze sets the quality to fit.
My video barely got smaller.
Some videos are already well compressed. Try Small or Smallest, a lower resolution, or a size to fit. Original Quality only repackages the video as an MP4, so its size stays about the same.
A video from iCloud is taking a while to start.
Videos kept in iCloud are downloaded to your device first, and the row shows how far along that is. Stay online until it's done.
Can I delete the original after converting?
Yes. Open the converted video, tap More (the three dots), then Delete Original from Photos. iOS asks you to confirm, and the original goes to Recently Deleted for 30 days. Save the converted copy to Photos first if you want to keep it there.
In the background
Does it keep converting if I leave the app?
Yes. Start converting and switch apps or lock the screen. Squeeze keeps going, shows its progress outside the app, and sends a notification when it's done if you allow notifications.
It stopped while I was away.
iOS sometimes pauses long batches, for example when the battery is low. Squeeze carries on when you open it again. If you stopped it from the progress shown outside the app, tap Convert to continue.
The editor
How do I merge clips?
In Edit, tap + and choose From Photo Library or From Files, then pick your clips. They're joined in the order you picked them. Add more with Add Clips, and drag clips in Arrange to change the order.
How do I remove or replace the sound?
Tap Sound. Remove All Audio silences every clip, and Replace Audio… uses an audio file or the sound from another video instead. To add music on top, use Music.
How do I save my edit?
Tap Export at the end of the tools, choose the resolution, format and frame rate, then tap Export Video. When it's done you can save it to Photos, share it, save it to Files, or tap Squeeze It Smaller to compress it too.
What does each tool do?
Tap ? at the top of the editor for the Tools Guide. It explains every tool and opens the one you tap.
Squeeze Pro
What does Squeeze Pro include?
The editor without the watermark, and clips of any length. Without Pro, videos made in the editor carry a small Squeeze watermark and the editor uses up to 2 minutes of each clip. Converting videos never needs Pro.
Getting Pro back on a new iPhone or iPad
Make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you bought Pro with. Then open Squeeze, go to Settings › Squeeze Pro and tap Restore Purchases.
Cancelling a subscription
In the iOS Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Squeeze. Pro keeps working until the end of the month you've paid for. Lifetime is a one-time purchase, so there's nothing to cancel.
Everything else
Videos start playing when I open them.
Turn off Settings › Play Automatically. With Pause When Leaving the App on, a video also stops when you switch apps or lock the screen.
How do I turn off the sounds?
Turn off Settings › Sounds. Silent Mode turns them off too.
Squeeze is using a lot of storage.
Squeeze keeps a copy of each original so you can compare or convert it again. Tap Settings › Clear Cached Originals to remove those copies. Your photo library isn't affected.
How do I delete my data?
See Deleting your data in the privacy policy.
